Residence of Igah Okpaya community in Benue State was nearly sacked by flood from river iga due to the torrential rainfall on Tuesday.
The rain fall that lasted over an hour as reported by an eye witness put the community in a total state of fear of the unknown as the river iga overflowed its bank, covering the only access road to the Agrarian community.
Conscience radio spoke with Barr. Omale Omale, the APC Federal House of Representative Aspirant for Apa-agatu federal constituency via his phone number commensurate with the flood victim and the entire community, according to him;
“At this very moment of loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to my very own community of Igah Opkaya over the disastrous flood mayhem that ravaged us today.
I must appreciate our youths for their immediate rescue response and to equally call on the appropriate authorities to as a matter of urgency move to the affected community immediately to avert further lose.
At the moment am away for a national assignment and will cut short my trip to come down for physical verification and assessment of the situation and communicate to the appropriate authorities in addition to generating the necessary information for my special legislative assignment if given the mandate to represent Apa-agatu federal constituency in the National Assembly, to report such vital issue to the appropriate quota for proper action.
May I also advise my good people of Iga Opkaya to take caution by staying away from the flood prone zone to avoid more casualties”
