Worried by the endemic rivalry between the Bauchi state Governor Mohammed Abubakar and the National Assembly [NASS] members including the speaker house of representatives Yakubu Dogara and the seeming inability of the state chapter of the All progressives Congress [APC] to reconcile the warring parties, the national headquarters of the party has set up a committee chaired by the minister of labour and employment Chris Ngige to intervene into the crisis with a view to resolving it amicably.
The committee which has the former governor of kaduna state Lawal Jafar Isa and the ex- head of civil service of the federation Gambo magaji among others yesterday visited Bauchi to find facts on the remote cause of the conflicts between the state chief executive and the federal law makers so that the party might take the right action.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the state Governor Mohammed Abubakar at the government house, Bauchi, Ngige explained that the committee had met with the national assembly members where it compiled their grievances with the governor adding that they came to the state to meet party leaders and stake holders to discuss on the matter and submit report and recommendation to national headquarters.
The minister who promised to give all the warring parties fair hearing expressed optimism that the crisis could be settled within the shortest possible time.
” We are started sitting with the national assembly members led by the speaker house of representatives Dogara and some senators like senator Nazif, senator wakili and the house of reps members. We sat with them in Abuja and the governor. But we are here to see facts for ourselves”. He noted.
In his response, Governor Abubakar commended the party for setting up the reconciliation committee assuring them of his readiness to cooperate with members so that they would discharge their assignment successfully.
He also charged the commitee to tour all the local governments areas of the state to inspect the ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration in order to ‘ dispel the accusations by the legislators that they were at logger head with him due to poor performance’.
