Arsene Wenger reveals that he is planning to make number of key signings this summer after agreeing a new two-year deal at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger signed his new two-year contract at Arsenal on Wednesday – and then promised Gunners fans that there will be plenty of new signings at the club this summer.
As expected, Wenger has put pen to paper on a new deal to keep him in charge at The Emirates until the summer of 2019.
The Frenchman has been under intense pressure in recent weeks following his side’s failure to qualify for the Champions League as they missed out on a top four finish.
However, the Gunners finished the season on a high when they beat champions Chelsea in the FA Cup final to secure their third title in four years.
Attentions will now inevitably turn towards the summer transfer window and the players Wenger will look to bring in to transform his squad into title challengers.
And Wenger hinted that there will be a number of new signings at The Emirates as he gave his first interview since signing his contract.
“We are looking at what we do well and how we can be stronger everywhere,” Wenger told Arsenal’s website.
“This is a strong group of players and with some additions we can be even more successful. We’re committed to mounting a sustained league challenge and that will be our focus this summer and next season.”
Wenger added: “I am grateful to have the support of the board and Stan in doing everything we can to win more trophies.
